Riley Hickman almost had the sweep, but veteran racer Rick Hixson of Soddy-Daisy proved to be the man to beat Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. Hixson put his race car in victory lane after leading all 25 laps of the "A" Main Feature race.

Hickman set fast time among 16 entrants and won the first of two heats, but the "Catbird Seat" proved to be dominant as Hixson dominated from the drop of the green flag.

Behind Hickman was former Ice Bowl Champion Bobby Mayse, last week’s winner Kevin Gibson and former Track Champion Lil’ John Ownbey. Craig Burrows of Chickamagua, Ga., dominated the Crate LM feature over Jimmy Elliott, Lamar Scoggins, Bobby Richey Jr., and Jason Welshan.

The A-Hobby feature was won by Glen Seaton III, the B-Hobby race was won by Jason Brown, of Decatur, the Pony was won by Nick Perry, of Lenoir City, and the FWD finale went to Daniel Burnette, of Chattanooga.

FWD racer Brad Cross was involved in a hard crash in turn two during the heat race. Cross was sent to a local hospital but reports are he’s in high spirits even after suffering a broken thumb, fractured hand, and a concussion.

Saturday, Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals invade Cleveland Speedway with a prize of $5,000 to win Super Late Model showdown. Reserved seats are on sale now through Friday at www.clevelandspeedway.com.
