Vance Ray Holder, 42, of Old Fort, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the family residence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Holder; his maternal grandparents, Sam and Winnie Mantooth; and his paternal grandparents, William Ed and Emily “Blue Eyes” Earls Holder.

He was a graduate of Polk County High School. He was a well-known carpenter and plumber. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and throwing darts, and was an avid NASCAR fan.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his mother, Easter Holder of Old Fort; his sister, Sandra J. Swallows and her fiancé, Grover Hardin; his bother, Billy Wayne “Moe” Holder, all of Old Fort; his nephew, Anthony McDowell and his wife, Jen, of Cleveland; his nieces: Terra Caughron and her husband, Josh, and Linda Hayes, all of Old Fort; three great-nephews; one great-niece; two uncles; three aunts; his fiancé, Tammy Rogers, of Old Fort; and several cousins.

The family requests no service at this time.
