The scoring stage was setup by a single from Brittany Nettles, followed by a sacrifice bunt by Baylee Boen who was able to reach first on a throwing error.
Sidney Hooper nailed a hit to the fence for a triple, driving both Nettles and Boen home. A sacrifice fly from Mackenzie Elrod gave the Lady Mustangs a four run lead over the Lady Trojans.
Soddy-Daisy was able to come back in the fifth and narrow its deficit to just two.
The Walker Valley defense never gave the Lady Trojans any other opportunities to stage a comeback, securing a pivotal 5-AAA win.
Hooper was the winning pitcher for the Lady Mustangs, walking none and only giving up six hits. Out of the 91 pitches Hooper threw, 61 were strikes.
Walker Valley hopes to follow up Tuesday’s district win with another today, as the Lady Mustangs travel to McMinn County.
