A native of Cleveland, he was a son of the late James Oscar and Essie L. Boring. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ella Sue Eldridge; and a brother, Ervin Boring.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, who served in the Korean War. He retired after 42 years from DuPont and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, East, with the Revs. Buddy Parrish and Fred Rowell officiating.
Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Kibble Boring; two sons: Alan (Debbie) Boring of Charleston, S.C., and Randy (Sandy) Boring of Colbert, Ga.; brother, Lawrence (Vestal) Boring of Benton; grandchildren: Chris (Denise) Boring and Dustin (Abigail) Boring, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Amanda (Tyler) Christensen of Dayton, Ohio, Savannah Boring of Orlando, Fla., and Hunter Boring of Colbert, Ga.; and great-grandchildren: Ezra Boring and Solomon Boring.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m, at the funeral home.
