Thanks to two walks followed by a single, the Lady Wildcats got two runs on the board to get the game started.
The Lady Redskins weren’t able to register a single run until the fourth, when their bats broke loose and they tallied up six runs.
Loudon was able to add one more run in the fifth as well.
Finding themselves now trailing the visitors by five runs, the Lady Wildcats were able to narrow their deficit to just one run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Both Lydia Triplett and Sydney Sloan hit doubles, with Sloan sending two runners home.
A single from Lily Cuzzort accounted for the third run, with the final RBI coming from a sacrifice fly from Jordan Triplett.
Hannah Triplett relieved J. Triplett of her pitching duties for the final two innings of the game.
A home run by L. Triplett in the sixth inning added two more runs for the home team, giving the Lady Wildcats a one-run advantage over the Lady Redskins.
Loudon wouldn’t go down without a fight, and in the top of the seventh once again took the lead with two more runs of their own.
Polk County finished out the extremely close game with a narrow one-run lead, after scoring two in the final inning.
The Lady Wildcats next game will be at home against Sequoyah on April 4, at 5:30 p.m.
