Sandra Alyn Bishop was born on Sept. 22, 1938, in Stevensville, Mont., to the late Esther and Alvin Fugman.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Mark Reasy and Gregory Reasy.
She was the second daughter in a family of five daughters and two sons.
She enjoyed very much seeing her siblings and extended family on her numerous trips.
She attended Open Bible College where her studies went beyond the classroom and developed into an intense love for the Word. She was an observer of life and could be called upon to share her wisdom with friends, family and strangers over the years. Sometimes her consistent and gentle humor helped as much as the advice she gave.
Never one to stay still, she worked as a secretary for Frank Smith, Open Bible pastor, and traveled as an interim manager for Banker’s Life prior to marrying David S. Bishop on March 20, 1967.
Her husband’s two daughters, Sheryl and Mellanie, from a previous marriage were adopted into her life and, more importantly, her heart. The young brood expanded with the addition of the couple’s children, Shannon and David.
For more than 50 years, she worked with her husband in various forms of ministry from California to Yakima, Wash., Cleveland, Hawaii and Alaska. The two shared sensitivity for others and a willingness to listen. She had a gift of hospitality and often had hundreds of people through her home in a single evening.
She promised to wait a year to make any major decisions following her late husband’s death. As always, she was true to her word. She waited precisely a year and a week before joining David in heaven and finally putting to rest her insistent claims she was ‘Normal.’
Loved ones will remember with fondness the many memories shared with her over the years. We recall the piano duets with her late husband, her weekly Bible studies, her unfortunate love of puns, her joy in spending time with loved ones and her constant caring, patient and understanding spirit. She was a faithful member of the Westmore Church of God and the Bridge Builders Focus Group.
Survivors include her daughters: Sheryl A. Walker and her husband, Chaplain (COL) Bryan Walker of Lorton, Va., Mellanie Hunt and her husband Gerald D. “Jerry” Hunt, of Yakima, and Shannon LeRoy and her husband, Dr. Donald LeRoy, of Douglasville, Ga.; her son, David S.
