AARP Drivers Safety classroom course will be available Wednesday and Thursday in Athens. Learn proven safety strategies and you could save money on car insurance. Call 423-745-6830 for reservations. ACTIVITIES AT THE LIBRARY includes the Lego Club for tweens, age 6 through 11, meeting March 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room; Teens “Hooked” group will meet in the Teen Zone at the library on March 21 at 4:30 p.m. to knit and crochet (yarn will be provided but please bring your own needles); and After hours on March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. celebrating Spring Break with snacks and Wii gaming.

A tour of the library will be held March 21 at 4 p.m. beginning in the lobby. This 45-minute behind-the-scenes tour will take you to areas in the library not usually open to the public and explain the workings of your public library. No advanced reservation needed.

The Spring Shopping Extravaganza featuring direct sales and unique craft vendors will be held April 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Peerless Road Church. Sponsored by The Salvation Army, this family event will make it fun and easy for families to enjoy one-stop shopping. There will be giveaways every hour, live entertainment, refreshments, free samples and an exciting illusionist. Dr. William Bass, founder of the University of Tennessee Body Farm, will be in Cleveland on April 16 for a speaking engagement, as announced by the Friends of the Library Association. The talk by Dr. Bass will be held at the Little Theater in the Village Green Town Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale for the talk and reception March 18 at the library. Foundation House Ministries, which will open in May, is seeking volunteers to teach Bible studies, crafts, tutoring, cooking classes, parenting and nutrition classes.
