He was the son of the late Dorothy Laughter Ledford and John Ledford. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Stevie Smith.
He was a talented man who could do anything and he raised his seven children with love and care.
He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Tennga.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mattie Cockburn Ledford; his six daughters: Kathy Ratcliff and her husband, Clancy, of Delano, Susie Smith of Old Fort, Charlotte Clark and her husband, Gary, of Conasauga, Pamela Peeples and her husband, Allen, of Chatsworth, Ga., Tammy Shugart and her husband, Jerry, of Resaca, Ga., and Robin Coalson of Old Fort; his son, J. W. Ledford III of Jackson, Ga;, his grandchildren: Brandon Ratcliff, Nicholas Smith, Hope Smith, Sampson Smith, Tekoa Lewis, Damaris Berrow, Jesse Peeples, John Peeples, Dustin Shugart, Kristy Beard, Roxy Beard, Robin Amelia Coalson and Christian Willis; one great-grandson; three great-grand daughters; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Memorial service will be conducted today, Feb. 24, 2013, at 4 p.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Randall Headrick and the Rev. Isacc Walker Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tennga.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
