He was a truck driver with more than 30 years of experience working for Classic Express Trucking.
He loved farming and anything outdoors. He also loved to operate heavy equipment. He loved his donkeys and collecting anything. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ishmel ”Red” Pullen; and his grandparents, Robert and Lucrita Pullen, and Alphas and Grace Mantooth.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 29 years, Shirley Pullen; daughter, Chariti Raines and her husband, Ryan, of Benton; his special grandchildren, Madison Scoggins and Hayden Ledford; mother, Gladys Pullen; sisters: Joann McClure and her husband, Robert, and Jerri Nipper and her husband, David, both of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Robert “Clyde” Herron of Benton; sister-in-law, Pamyla Farris and her husband, Rick, of Old Fort; father and mother-in-law, Neal and Buena Herron of Old Fort; several nieces, nephews and a special friend, James “Mudflap” Vernon of Etowah.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Leroy “Sonny” Tilley, the Rev. Charles Moore and the Rev. Lee Ingram officiating.
Interment will follow in the Herron family cemetery with Jack “Mouise” Mantooth, Teddy “In-Law” Hawkins, Rod “Lightfoot” Emerson, Roger “American Dream” Cissom, Lonnie “Chonce” Raines and Dan Quinn serving as casketbearers.
Honorary casketbearers will be Joe “JJ” Johnson, Kevin “Mechanic” Layman, James “Mudflap” Vernon, Rick “Little Man” Farris, James “Grannpy” Ogle, and in memory Wilbur “Blackjack” Black.
The family will receive friends this evening from 4 to 9 at the funeral home.
