Bobby Edward Hurst, 71, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Friday morning, Feb. 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Maryville, on Sept. 13, 1941, a son of the late Clell and Minnie Hurst.

He was a native of Maryville but had made Cleveland his home for more than 15 years.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He worked for many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales as a pastime. He was instrumental in helping build Bible Baptist Church, where he also served as a lay pastor.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Douglas; and one brother, Bill Hurst.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Wanda Redwine Hurst; daughter, Susan Hurst; son, Bobby Edward Hurst Jr.; stepdaughters: Oma Dockery and Glenda Bishop; stepsons: John Baldwin, Ralph Baldwin, and Chris Baldwin; several grandchildren; nieces: Bridgette Dallas, Gail Davis and Renee Tipton; several nephews; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Stuart Park Baptist Church, 850 17th St., Cleveland.

Interment will follow in Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Blount.

The family will receive friends at the church, Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time.
