His life was encapsulated by the Henry Drummond quote, “Happiness ... consists in giving and in serving others.” He was born in Asheville, N.C, on July 17, 1914, the youngest son of George W. and Mary Alice (Sisk) Lytle.
After high school, he worked for the Enka Rayon Co. for a few years and at age 21 moved to Windsor, Canada, to live with his sister. He attended Bible Training School in Cleveland, and then traveled with a gospel quartet in Florida and Louisiana.
In 1939, he graduated from Bible Training School and pastored Church of God congregations throughout Indiana and Ohio for 41 years.
On Oct. 11, 1939, he married Johnnie Omega Pyeatt of New Mexico. Their love lasted a lifetime and they celebrated their 73rd anniversary this past October.
His survivors include his wife, Johnnie; his son, George Dudley Lytle of Wimauma, Fla.; and daughters: Carolyn Lytle Clifton of Springfield, Ohio, and Gaynell Kay Durbin of Cincinnati, Ohio, seven grandchildren: Deana Lytle Thompson, Donya Lytle Woconish, Heather Clifton Hester, Craig Clifton, Corinne Clifton, Rachel Cupp Bake and Brian Cupp; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; his brothers: John M. Lytle and William A. Lytle; and sister, Mary Lou Wiles.
He was devoted to his family and church. His love of singing and beautiful voice will be miss by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Christ Chapel Church of God, 2404 Troy Road, Springfield, Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bernard Cook officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Lunch will be provided for all guests immediately following the service.
Committal will then follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to the loving caregivers at Oakwood Village, and to the many friends from Christ Chapel who faithfully visited him.
