Warren G. Brewster, 78, a lifelong resident of this area, went home to be with Jesus surrounded by his family on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Ooltewah on Aug. 16, 1934, a son of the late Walter and Louise Brewster.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
He spent his career in education serving as a teacher at Cleveland High School, assistant principal at Cleveland Middle, principal at Arnold Elementary, and finishing his career with the JPTA program.
He played baseball at Tennessee Wesleyan College and took great pride in playing for the Cleveland Banana baseball team locally.
He was an original member of the football panel, serving since 1961. He was a loyal fan of the Tennessee Vols. He remained close to his graduating classmates of 1952. He enjoyed spending time with his family going on vacations, and most of all spending time at the family lake house. His spent his last days surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, Patti Brewster; three daughters and sons-in-law: Kellye and Jeff Huff, Lori and Tim Delk and Karen and Jason Blomdahl; one son and daughter-in-law, Gill and Lisa Brewster; one brother, Mike Brewster of Murphy, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Cameron Brewster, Hayley Brewster, Logan Delk, Morgan Delk, Matthew Huff, Michael Huff, Austin Blomdahl and Ally Blomdahl; special friends: Dr. C.A. Kile and Eddie and Milteen Cartwright, who supported him throughout his illness; and is also survived by numerous other extended family members and countless friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 12, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1275 Stuart Road N.E., with the Rev. Derek Simpson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service time.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the First Baptist Church building fund in Warren’s memory.
