The Lady Raiders traveled to Rhea for their first match of the season Monday and brought back junior varsity and varsity wins.
The varsity girls were up 21-8 in set one before a series of unforced errors closed the gap between the two teams. Rhea Central scored the next six points before a couple of errors, a kill from eighth-grader Katie Swafford and an ace by Jessica Towe brought the game to 28-26 finish. The Lady Raiders took the second set quickly with a 25-12 final score.
Leaders included Morgan Moffett with four aces, eight digs and four kills; Caroline Gregory with five kills; Sammie Kate Eason with a pair of aces, five digs, two kills and 14 assists; seventh-grader Sophia Lakatosh with three aces; and Swafford with an ace, six digs, and four kills.
The Junior varsity won their first match with scores of 25-14 and 27-25. Aly Grace Lemons and Sophie Lakatosh each had four aces. Julia Ledford and Rheagan Hall each had a pair of kills.
The Lady Raiders will travel to Chillhowee Middle School today to take on the Lady Bobcats.
