Dennis Calvin Sipe, 66, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2013.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1946, a son of the late Otis and Arietta Sipe.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in which he was very involved and active.
He worked since the age of 16 until his retirement as a brick and block mason locally. He was an avid HAM radio operator, antique car enthusiast, and horseman, but will be most remembered for being a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Elaine Sipe.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 21 years, Debra Hafley Sipe; one daughter, Kimberly Denise Sipe; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony Lorne and Jaime Sipe; two stepsons: Tony Jones and Tim Jones; one sister, Faye Thomas-Morris; one brother, Larry Sipe; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter who was the “apple of his eye”; and several other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for today, Jan. 13, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 3119 Spring Place Road in Cleveland, with Pastor Rusty Langford, the Rev. Jim Hensley, and the Rev. Steve Ross officiating.
Interment will follow in the Cedar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with Nick Sipe, Tony Jones, Tim Jones, Eric Hall, Jerry Arms, and Johnny Sosebee serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends today from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at church.
