Library Corner: Gadget Week workshops to begin in January 2013

Christmas greetings are sent to all our patrons from the staff at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library.

May you have a safe and blessed Holiday.

The library will be closed Dec. 24, 25, and 26 in observance of Christmas. Normal hours will resume on Dec. 27.

Computer classes will begin the month with Gadget Week for all those patrons who received a new e-book reader device or a new digital camera that they need help operating.

Call the reference or non-fiction desk to register for one of these free workshops.

The workshops will be held twice each day from 10 a.m. to noon or 3 to 5 p.m. Each day will feature a different device — Jan. 7, digital cameras; Jan. 8, B&N Nooks; Jan. 9, Amazon Kindles; Jan. 10, Apple devices; Jan. 11, Android devices.

All classes in this workshop series will be about using the e-book reader with the free library R.E.A.D.S. service.

The schedule for other computer classes for the month of January is:

Basic Computers: Jan. 14 and 16 from 10 a.m. to noon; Intermediate Computers: Jan. 21 and 23 from10 a.m. to noon; Excel: Jan. 28, 29, 30 an 31 from 3 to 5 p.m.; PowerPoint: Jan. 22 and 24 from 3 to 5 p.m.; and Word: Jan. 15 and 17 from 3 to 5 p.m.

A $5 refundable cash deposit is required for all library computer classes.

Teens will be having an early New Year celebration on Dec. 29 at the After Hours Teen Zone Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Teens ages 13 through 18 are invited to this event.

The library will close on Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. and will be closed on Jan. 1, 2013, for New Year’s Day.
