Raiders dominate at Soddy

The Cleveland High School Blue Raiders put a hurting on their host Soddy-Daisy Trojans Tuesday night as both the boys and girls teams came away with dominating District 5-AAA wins.

Cleveland’s boys stayed perfect on the season with an 82-63 shellacking of the Trojans to improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the district.

It was a big night from beyond the arc for the Raiders as 11 3-pointers found their way onto the scoreboard.

Kendrick Thompson led Raider scoring with 22 points. C.J. Bryant and Jahmal Johnson added 17 apiece. Anfernee Scott netted 15; TyQwan Ware notched five; Dustin Little had 4; Isaiah Beaty had a pair, and Mason Brown and D.J. Jones also scored.

Lady Raider basketball improved to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in the district with a 52-22 victory. The game was never in doubt as Cleveland’s girls held Soddy scoring to single digits for three quarters, including a pair of two-point quarters in the second and fourth.

Nora Berry and Qetuwrah Abdullah-Muhammad led Lady Raider scoring with 14 points. Sydnie Anderson added eight, while her sister Shawnia netted six. Hallea McClendon also scored six points. Anna Ginestri and Jenna Scoggins had two points apiece. Bre Ware, Kellee Geren, Sarah Crump, Graicyn Walkup and Jordan Capron all also scored in the win.

Both Cleveland squads will be in district action again Friday night as they host the Ooltewah Owls.
