The Scholastic Book Fair will continue through Monday in the Children’s Room of the library. Stop by and look and give the gift of reading to someone. Besides books, there will be other items that can be used as stocking stuffers. All monies raised from this Book Fair will be used to purchase additional books for the Children’s collection.

The whole family will enjoy PJs and “The Polar Express” on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. in the Community Room. Come dressed in your PJs, bring a blanket and enjoy popcorn and hot cocoa. On Saturday, the whole family can build a cookie house and sing festive carols at 11 a.m. in the Community Room. Call 472-2163, ext. 124, to sign up for this event.

Teens will meet on Thursday for an art project in the Teen Zone at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday the After Hours Teens Zone will host a Hobbit Party in honor of the new movie release. Come dressed in your favorite “Lord of the Rings” character. This group is for teens aged 13-18 only.

Holiday Arts for Tweens will meet on Monday at 4:30 p.m. This activity is for ages 6 through 12. Tweens Book Chatter will meet Friday at 4:30 p.m. to discuss “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: the Third Wheel” in the Storytime Room.

“Sounds of the Season” will continue each Wednesday until Christmas in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room of the library from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hot cider will be served while you enjoy a break from work or the holiday rush and listen to seasonal piano music being played by one of our guest pianists. The public is invited to this free event.

Messiah Sing! will be presented by the combined music forces of First United Methodist and Wesley Methodist churches in the sanctuary of First United Methodist today at 6 p.m. Four of the area’s most accomplished singers — Brett Hyberger-baritone, James Frost-tenor, Chery Brendel-soprano, and Loralee Songer-mezzo — will provide solos for the concert. A 50-voice choir, the Jimenez Chamber Strings, piano and organ will join to provide all “Messiah” lovers the opportunity to sing along with or just enjoy listening to this timeless music. Bring a score or borrow one.

Author’s Night Out will be presented by the Etowah Writer’s Alliance/Etowah Arts Commission on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Etowah Community Center. The public is invited to come meet local authors and see their books, which will be available for sale as well. The event is free to the public. For more information, call 423-435-6480.

A Resume Writing Workshop will be held again on Dec. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. Also Ebook reader workshops for iPads/iOS on Friday and Barnes & Noble Nooks on Dec. 22 from noon to 2 p.m.
