CMS ladies notch four wins

The Cleveland Middle School Lady Raiders secured a pair of big wins at Dalton Middle in their second games of the season recently.

The eighth-grade Lady Raiders defeated DMS 62-12, behind the scoring of Gabria Hubbard with 17, Amber Morman with 16, and Sofia Stomatiatus’s 12 points.

The seventh-grade team wasted no time in securing a 47-21 win, led by Brooke McCurdy’s 15 markers. Lauren Stutzman added 13 points and Emma Flowers contributed 11 points to the team win.

The same local squads also claimed recent wins over Rhea County Middle by scores of 58-26 and 45-11 respectively.

In the eighth-grade game, Stomatiatus led all scorers with 15 points and six rebounds, Morman contributed 14 points and nine rebounds and Hubbard added 13 points, five rebounds and eight steals.

Shaunti Mastin and Kailey McRee tossed in six points to round out the scoring for the Lady Raiders.

The CMS seventh-graders got a double-double from point guard McCurdy who scored 25 points, in addition to snatching 10 steals, tossing three assists and grabbing six rebounds.

Erin Stutzman grabbed nine rebounds and scored five points. Lauren Stutzman scored three points, grabbed four steals and added five assists, and Braylee Franklin tossed in four points.

The CMS varsity Lady Raiders are 2-1 on the season, while the junior varsity Lady Raiders are undefeated with three wins.
