Christie N. David, 32, a social studies teacher, was indicted by a Bradley County Grand Jury after an investigation of her alleged involvement with a former student, a 15-year-old male.
David posted a $10,000 bond after she was charged and turned herself over to authorities Oct. 23.
She was indicted by a Bradley County grand jury after investigators with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in September, according to officials at BCSO.
“Findings of the investigation were presented in a session of the Bradley County Grand Jury and an indictment was issued accusing David of having an inappropriate relationship with a male, a 15-year-old former student,” BCSO Public Information Officer Bob Gault noted.
David was suspended from her teaching position Oct. 3., according to Bradley County Director of Schools Johnny McDaniel.
"As this is a criminal matter, we would now refer all further questions to the District Attorney's office," McDaniel said.
According to information provided by Bradley County Schools Central Office, “David taught social studies in Bradley County Schools at Lake Forest Middle School from 2004-2008. She was rehired in October 2011, at Walker Valley High School as an interim language arts teacher. She was hired in a permanent position at WVHS in August 2012.”
Scott Kanavos and Andrew Freiberg are representing David as the defense and Cynthia LeCroy-Schemel of the 10th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office is the prosecuting attorney.
