Everyone from the campus and community is encouraged to audition. There are more than 25 roles for a variety of ages and types. Those auditioning must prepare a Shakespearean monologue lasting a maximum of one minute in duration.
Show dates are April 4-7 and 11-14, 2013, in the Sue E. Trotter Theater at The Arts Center. Rehearsals will begin the third week of January and will largely be held on Tuesday through Thursday nights until the show opens. Cast members are expected to use the time between casting in November and first rehearsals in January to study their parts and get off book.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is one of Shakespeare’s most loved plays. It is fanciful and funny and does not take itself seriously. It is very approachable for modern actors and audiences, and even takes place in Athens. This version will feature the musical score of Felix Mendelssohn and the Athens Community Chorus. The play is directed by Dr. Eric Love.
