The Cleveland Lady Raiders battled hard against Red Bank Tuesday in their first volleyball match of the season, but came up short bu scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 27-17.

"It is always tough to lose the first game of the season. We struggled at the net quite a bit, and know what we need to work on. I would not say I am satisfied with our performance in the least, but we did some good things at times. We just have to continue working on our areas of weakness,” said Cleveland coach Patricia Flowers. "Junior Marissa Langford had some good hits for us, and I feel strongly that she will continue to improve her game. Junior Eva Wilhelm served well and passed well. We had a lot of good serves from Kayla Lee and Jessica Murray."

Marissa Langford opened with 13 receptions, eight digs, eight kills, and one block while Cassie Hale had 11 receptions, four digs and four kills. Jessica Murray finished with two aces, three digs and one kill and Aneisha Barber finished with one reception, one dig and one kill. K.K. Clements had three receptions and two kills while Kayla Lee served one ace, had five digs and seven assists. Kellee Geren had one ace, 10 digs and seven assists. Eva Wilhelm fired over two aces, picked up 20 receptions and finished with 21 digs for the Lady Raiders while Graicyn Walkup had one kill.
