On July 19, community members and associates joined Life Care Center of Cleveland residents in a great summer tradition — ice cream. In honor of National Ice Cream Day, the facility dietary team scooped up vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors of the sweet treat into waffle and sugar cones. Mayfield Dairy Farms donated the ice cream, while the facility supplied the cones. Resident Uva Cofer reflected on ice cream from her childhood: “About all they had was vanilla and chocolate. That was a few years ago.” Despite the many newfangled flavors of ice cream available in stores, residents at the center tend to favor the classic flavors from their youth: chocolate, vanilla … even cherry. Guests at the event included all ages — from small children and their parents to local EMS workers. In honor of the occasion, the facility gave away ice cream scoops. “The residents and associates loved it,” said Jeremy Gravell, executive director. “I mean, who doesn’t like ice cream?”
