This is in regard to the proposed wheel tax [as] a retired school teacher.
No matter how you slice it, the proposed wheel tax is another tax. Another tax in a state already heavily taxed. A regressive tax which is hard on the poor, elderly and working class.
Yes, it seems that the schools need additional funds and if you don’t pass this tax then “we” will just increase the property tax. This is the same threat that was used when they implemented the increase sales tax two or three years ago.
What happened to this additional money? What tax will be implemented next for additional funds or will they just increase the amount of the wheel tax?
I believe that once this tax is passed by majority vote that the county commissioners can increase it by just their vote. It seems that they want the poor and elderly to fund all government functions.
Why not propose a state income tax? Of course, we all know the answer to that as it is an increase that taxes the higher-income persons too.
Do not vote for another government tax. Vote NO on this additional (wheel) tax.
Thank you for listening.
