On Thursday, July 12, 2012, the U.S. Olympic Swim Team visited the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville for an unofficial swim practice.
Hundreds of visitors started taking their place in line before 5 o’clock in the morning to get their chance to see the swim team.
More than half of the members of the Cleveland Aqua Tigers and their coaches had this rare opportunity to attend and represent Cleveland. They were able to see some Olympic stars such as Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps, Davis Tarwater, Tyler McGill and Claire Donahue.
Head coach of the Cleveland Aqua Tigers, Eric Frazier, was able to meet Tyler McGill and Ryan Lochte. Frazier was very excited that his swimmers were able to take part in this chance of a lifetime and help motivate them for the upcoming Chattanooga Area Swim League City Meet.
In May CAT swimmers Adam Foster and Guy Shelton were honored to attend Auburn’s Brett Hawke Swim Camp. There, they were trained by Rowdy Gaines, three-time gold medalist and U.S. Swimming Hall of Famer, Brett Hawke, Auburn Head swim coach, Tyler McGill, an international medalist and current U.S. Olympic Swim Team member.
