Michael Lee Blattner, 35, was charged this week with the alleged burglary of an Armstrong Road residence where firearms and other items were taken and with a burglary at Simpson Bridge Construction Co. on South Lee Highway.
Simpson Bridge was burglarized June 15. The residence was broken into June 26.
Six guns, two computers, an iPod, and some cash were part of the loss from the business. The loss was just over $7,500.
On Arm-strong Road the homeowner reported six guns, jewelry, sterling silver silverware and other property combined for a loss in excess of $15,000, according to reports from Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for BCSO.
“Detectives were able to trace some of the property to pawn shops and learned several other individuals had pawned items not knowing they were from the two burglaries.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking for these people to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 728-7336,” noted Gault.
Detectives are asking for help identifying a pocket knife engraved with “DAD.” It has been recovered but they have been unable to connect it to any recent burglaries they are investigating.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges could be filed, according to Gault.
n Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting Driver’s License Roadside Safety Checkpoints in Bradley County beginning this weekend.
The checkpoints will be set up in random location in the county.
According to THP officials, checkpoints are an effective means of recognizing the dangers presented to the driving public by motorists who would violate the driver’s license laws of the state.
All scheduled checkpoints are contingent upon weather conditions and manpower availability.
