A mission trip to Ponza Rica, Mexico, is planned in July with some 40 people going, some from South Cleveland Church of God.
@:Tony Lane, who has taken a group to an orphange in Mexico for 13 years, will lead this trip.
The primary purpose is to minister and work at the Casa Hogar Alfa y Omega Orphange in Poza Rica. This is a ministry to children who have been abandoned, abused and neglected.
The ministry was started by a pastor and his wife, who reached out to children who were found living under a bridge. Other ministry opportunities include ministry to families living in a trash dump, as well as to poor communities in the area.
The ground was broken last summer for a new multipurpose building, which will house a large auditorium to seat 800 people, a commercial kitchen, a dining hall, interior and exterior, and restrooms.
The new auditorium will also provide a place for public gatherings and the celebration of various events, such as Quinceaneras and weddings.
The January team members presented special gifts to the adult workers at Casa Hogar. Each was given a cash gift, as well as a gift bag full of various items. The pastor was given an iPad. At the close of the January trip, supplies and food were purchased and given, with offerings from various donors and churches.
Farm land has been purchased about 30 minutes from Casa Hogar, which is providing a source of income for Pastor Elias and an opportunity to teach the children a trade.
The orphanage also accepts sponsorships for the children as a world missions project.
