Kevin R. Brown, associate professor of English at Lee University, has just written his first book, “They Love to Tell The Story: Five Contemporary Novelists Take on the Gospels.”

Brown examines the works of five noted novelists who retold the story of Jesus’ life and reshaped the legends and writings of major Christian figures in the gospels to fit a contemporary audience.

In “They Love to Tell The Story,” Brown gathers existing stories from the Bible that were interpreted by the novelists as each portrayed the major characters in the gospel story and how the novels’ characters compare not only to their biblical counterparts, but also to the legends that have accrued about them.

He received his bachelor of arts in English from Milligan College in East Tennessee, and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama and East Tennessee State University. He earned his doctorate in English from the University of Mississippi. Born in Jackson, Brown currently resides in Cleveland with his wife, Courtney.

Published by Kennesaw State University Press out of Georgia, “They Love to Tell The Story” retails for $12.95 and is available from most online booksellers or through the publisher’s website: www.kennesaw.edu/ksupress.
