According to Bob Gault, media relations coordinator for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Lee Gee, 38, has been arrested and charged.
According to a report filed by deputy Doug Boucher, William Curtis Crisp Jr. reported he had been on vacation. When he returned home, he noticed someone had come onto his property and taken his 14-foot tandem trailer containing various carpentry tools. Acting upon information from a family member, detectives and Boucher were able to establish a suspect.
“Several citizens provided key information that helped Bradley County Sheriff’s detectives to solve several thefts dating back to January,” Gault said.
Further investigation led to recovery of three other trailers and a four-wheeler which were all stolen in Bradley County this year.
Detectives followed information to property owned by Gee.
It was also reported earlier that some of the tools and power equipment had been recovered from the property.
Gault said alleged stolen property which had been taken April 26 or 27 from Mount Zion Road, Benton Pike, and White Oak Valley Road residents was found along with an ATV that was stolen in January from Waterville Drive.
The recovered property is valued over $4,000, according to Gault.
Gault also said investigators are continuing to search for the tandem trailer owned by Crisp, who had been out of town when his property was taken.
Anyone with information about the trailer is asked to call the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office at 423-728-7336.
Gee was charged with burglary, theft over $10,000, theft under $500, and three counts of theft over $1,000.
Gee remains in custody and will appear on June 26 in General Sessions Court, according to Gault.
