Park Overall, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be the keynote speaker at the Bradley County Democrats’ Heritage Dinner on June 11 at 5:30 pm.

The event, which is sponsored by the Bradley County Democratic Party, will be held at Walker Valley High School.

Overall will primarily address issues relating to job growth, support of the labor movement and women’s rights.

She was born in Greeneville, and often speaks about her parents, who raised her to be both informed and involved in politics.

She currently resides in Greene County on her farm where she cares for numerous rescued animals.

Before her retirement, Overall had a successful acting career. She has appeared in plays on Broadway and was later cast in the role of Laverne on the hit TV series “Empty Nest.” She has made guest appearances on several TV shows such as “Golden Girls” and “Reba.” She was also a regular guest on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson.

In 2011, she stepped out of retirement to appear in an independent film, “In The Family.”
