Mary Jim Kelly Cogdill, 56, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday morning, May 27, 2012 at SkyRidge Medical center surrounded by her loving family after a seven-year battle with cancer.
She worked in the pharmacy at SkyRidge Medical Center for 35 years. She attended First United Methodist Church of Cleveland. She was a beloved wife of 37 years, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was a loving grandmother and was called “J.J.” by her only granddaughter.
Her life is reflected in the passage from 2 Timothy/4:6-8 “ For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Her mother, Mary Grace Layne Kelly, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Cogdill; daughter, Kelly Cogdill Bishop and husband, Joshua, of Knoxville; son, James R. Cogdill and wife, Sloane, of Knoxville; granddaughter, Mary Grace Bishop, of Knoxville; father, James W. Kelly; brother, Chip Kelly and wife, Jill; sister, Susan Merriman and husband, Lynn; aunt, Evelyn T. Layne, all of Dunlap. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Revs. Andy Fergurson and Sarah Varnell officiating. A private interment will be on Thursday, May 31, at 10 CST at the Kelly Family Cemetery in Dunlap with Ray Grant, Bill Burrows, Chad Wolfenden, Phil Burger, Gary Fuller and Mika Reynolds serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the physicians and staff of SkyRidge Medical Center.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
