Jewelry, prescription medications and a variety of firearms were reportedly stolen during an aggravated burglary at a Mowery Circle address.

Deputy David Harper of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the address and met with John Burtnett.

According to Burtnett, he had been out of town and when he arrived back home, he discovered someone had apparently entered the residence and taken a gold diamond ring, a Ruger M77 rifle, a Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun, a Ruger Security 6 handgun and a Taurus .357-caliber handgun.

A bottle of prescription medication was also missing.

Burtnett said a family friend had been house sitting at the residence prior to his arrival from out of town.

Damage was noted to a doorway at the home but it could not be determined if that was the point of entry due to the fact the doorway damage was pre-existing.

Loss was estimated at $5,980.

Investigation is continuing.

- Approximately $14,000 in items including a utility trailer were taken from a Georgetown Circle address late last week.

Officials have established a suspect and according to a report filed by deputy Doug Boucher, some of the property has been recovered.

William Curtis Crisp Jr. reported he had been on vacation. When he returned home, he noticed someone had come onto his property and taken his 14-foot tandem trailer which contained various carpentry tools.

Acting upon information from a family member, detectives and Boucher were able to establish a suspect.

Investigation is ongoing.

- Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting Driver’s License Roadside Safety Checkpoints in Bradley County beginning this weekend.

The checkpoints will be set up in random location in the county.

According to THP officials, checkpoints are an effective means of recognizing the dangers presented to the driving public, by motorists who would violate the driver’s license laws of the state.

All scheduled checkpoints are contingent upon weather conditions and manpower availability.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office will also be holding Field Sobriety Checkpoints at various locations in the county beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend, according to Capt. W.G. Campbell.
