Roger Ellis, 74, of Cleveland died Thursday April 5, 2012, at the family residence.

He was a self-employed builder having helped build nuclear power plants in Florida.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cleveland.

He never met a stranger where he didn’t share his faith and love for his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sherry Ellis; son: Roger Ellis of Ohio; stepson, Ray Boyd and his wife, Kristen, of Everett, Wash.; six grandchildren and 16 stepchildren, who he helped raise and each of whom he loved; sisters: Anita Poole of Cleveland and Joyce Daniels of Florida; two half brothers: Allen Squires of Louisiana and Timmy Squires of Florida; an aunt, Lois Addison of Florida; an uncle, Robert Martin, also of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Brian Silvenis officiating.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

The Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
