Meigs resident succumbs to March car crash injuries

A traffic crash March 6 sent three Meigs County residents to area hospitals and one has reportedly died as a result of his injuries. The late-afternoon crash occurred on Georgetown Road near the Vassey Lawn and Garden store.

James Aszman, 82, was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center after his Lincoln Town Car collided with another Lincoln Town car driven by Brenda Bacon, 66.

Aszman died during the weekend, according to officials at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry Clayton, 59, was a passenger in the car driven by Bacon.

Bacon and Clayton were transported to SkyRidge Medical Center by Bradley County Emergency Medical Service paramedics where they were treated.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit investigators are in charge of the case.

On the following day, Jeff Sherill, 44, died when his vehicle collided with a dump truck driven by Gary McGuire, 54.

The crash occurred on Michigan Avenue Road near the intersection of Minnis Road.

The Cleveland Police Department is being aided in that investigation by the BCSO.
