The Bradley County Finance Committee passed four budget amendments without much discussion Tuesday.

Two of the requests were for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office. Both of these were to receive revenue into the department’s budget. One accepted payments to the department for directing traffic near local schools and churches. The other allowed the department to accept a Mobile Data Project grant for more than $25,000 from the Department of Justice. According to the request the money will be used for Data Processing Equipment.

A budget amendment approved for Bradley County Schools allowed the system to accept money from insurance recovery. The amendment also allowed the schools to move money from an operations line item to a capital outlay line item to cover the cost of architect fees needed to apply for a FEMA grant, according to the request. The school system is applying for a grant that would give it funding for needed capital projects if sections of the structures built met the FEMA guidelines to be considered a safe zone during extreme weather.

A budget amendment was also made to cover the year’s utilities for utilities at the Farmers Market North and Urbane Road Recycling Center.

Finance Committee Chair Connie Wilson said the committee needs to meet with Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis to discuss the long-range financial plan. The suggested date and time did not work for the committee members, so another date will be set later.
