The Ocoee Middle School wrestling team took Second place at the NGTNWA Championships Jan 14. The Colts finished right behind Dalton, Ga., by one point. Lake Forest Finished in third and Cleveland Middle fourth.

Ocoee had 12 place winners: Robert Varner, third Place, 78 pounds; Colton Landers, first place, 86 pounds; Knox Fuller, first place, 94 pounds; Henley Headrick, fourth place, 100 pounds; Mikel Gregory, third place, 115 pounds; Joseph Munoz, first place, 123 pounds; Cannann Bennett, third place, 140 pounds; Jaylon Martin, second place, 154 pounds; Matt Pankey, second place, 165 pounds; Justin Brown, third place, 180 pounds; Clay Pankey, second place, 220 pounds; and Mathew Holmes, second place, heavyweight.

Colts win

over Dalton

The Ocoee Middle School eighth-grade boys notched a hardwood win against Dalton (Ga.) Middle School recently, scraping together a 45-43 victory.

Leading scorers for the Colts were Josh Jones with 13 points, Cole Copeland netted 10, Bryce Nunnelly scored eight, Matthew Meadows put five on the board and Wes Wagner tallied four.

Those same eighth-grade Colts were also in action against Baylor recently. Despite a gutsy performance, OMS fell 43-38.

Meadows led Colt scoring with 11 points, Jones scored 11, Nunnelly seven, Copeland contributed five and Payton Parker put four on the scoreboard.

The Colts will finish up regular season play tonight at Lake Forest. Tonight’s game will determine seeding for the upcoming Regional Tournament that begins on Jan. 23.
