James K. DeLay, 73, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2011.
He attended Lighthouse Ministries and enjoyed watching JSM Christian Network.
He worked for John Lewis of Lewisco Auction and Realty, from which he retired in 1993.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Jim DeLay and Esteleene Delay Woods. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles DeLay; and sister, Evelyn DeLay.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye DeLay, of Cleveland; sons: Mike DeLay and his wife, Melissa, and Ronnie DeLay, all of Cleveland; daughters: Joy DeLay, Gayla Guy and husband, Willie, and Tammy Couch and husband, Terry, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Tony DeLay and wife, Missy, Paul DeLay, Beth Guy, Lamanda Bowers, Nicholas Guy and wife, Jennifer, Michael DeLay, Nina Couch, Patrick Guy and Zach Couch, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Abbey DeLay, Tony DeLay Jr., Emma Evans, Hannah Bowers and Katelyn Guy, all of Cleveland; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Revs. Buck Beavers and Mike DeLay officiating.
Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and a dove release ceremony.
Tony DeLay, Paul DeLay, Nicholas Guy, Michael DeLay, Patrick Guy and Zach Couch will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Guy, Terry Couch, Kevin Arrowood and Nathan Goodwin.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
