If students are interested in enrolling at CSCC for fall semester and are applying for financial aid, all documents must be turned in by that date.
“With our enrollment numbers continuing to rise and the number of files we have for verification increasing, while the staff in our office is staying the same, it’s important that we implement a deadline,” said Brenda DiSorbo, CSCC director of financial aid. “In order to provide better customer service for our students, the deadline is definitely necessary.”
DiSorbo went on to state that schools are now focusing more on retention and graduation rates and students need to start planning how they are going to be paying for college in advance.
“The financial aid process is not something that can be taken care of in a week. We want our students to be more prepared, so they will be fully awarded prior to school starting.”
According to DiSorbo, if students apply for financial aid after the deadline date, they will need to be prepared to pay their fees for fall semester. A deferred payment plan is available through the college’s Business Office so students may pay their bills in installments.
Students who complete financial aid application requirements after the July 29 deadline can still be awarded after their aid is processed, if they are eligible for federal or state financial aid programs. Those students may be reimbursed once their aid is processed.
