Gloria Jean Faley, 66, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, in a Chattanooga hospital after a long battle with brain cancer.
She was born Aug. 17, 1944, in Fayette, Ala., to the late “Pot” and Maulean Meherg.
She moved to Cleveland shortly after high school. She worked for the Cleveland Schools in food services for 28 years.
On June 4, 2001, she married Robert “Bob” Faley in Ringgold, Ga.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Faley of Cleveland; sons: Andrew Wyatt and Jeremy Wyatt, both of Cleveland; daughter, Jamie (Jimmy) Speigle of Jasper, Ala.; stepsons: Todd (Teri Schmidt) Faley and Jeffrey (Sara) Faley, both of Dixon, Ill.; stepdaughter-in-law, Gwen Faley of Dixon; grandchildren: Jacob Wyatt of Jasper, Ala., Clay Wyatt and Tyler Wyatt, both of Cleveland; stepgrandchildren: Kayla Faley, Alec Faley, Carson Faley, and Avery Faley, all of Dixon; sister, Rachel (Dell) Murphy, of Theodore, Ala.; brother, James (Libby) Meherg of Decatur, Ala.; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and June Jones of Dixon; and several nephews and nieces; as well as friends too numerous to mention.
A graveside prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dell Murphy officiating. Per her request, there will be no visitation.
The family requests memorials be made to the Erlanger Cancer Research Center.
