The beautification project was slowed by the weather and excavation crews recently hit rock.
In other discussions, it was announced city offices will be closed April 22 for Good Friday.
Also, Vice Mayor Avery Johnson asked that a resolution amending personnel policies covering at-fault accidents be pulled from the consent agenda for further review by Human Resources.
Resolution 2011-27 called for all accidents to be reviewed on a monthly basis by the Accident Review Committee. The committee is charged with the responsibility of reviewing the facts of the accidents and determining those to be the fault of city employees. Under the proposal, all accidents or incidents resulting in injury and or damage would have to be reviewed by the committee.
The resolution could have held employees involved in the accident as well as their supervisor and department head subject to discipline and or corrective measures.
Council members passed the other items remaining on the consent agenda:
Resolution 2011-25 amended personnel policies by updating the list of exempt personnel.
Resolution 2011-26 amended personnel policies by extending fire department employees’ probationary period from six to 12 months and clarified that all probationary employees are not eligible for the appeals process if terminated.
Resolution 2011-28 authorized Mayor Tom Rowland to sign a contract with Hefferlin and Kronenberg Architects for construction engineering services for the railroad depot restoration project.
