Nina Mae Childs, 89, a longtime resident of Georgetown, passed away Saturday evening, April 2, 2011, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Mary Farris Brown and Jess Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Childs; son, William Ray Childs; brothers: Ray Brown and Lee Brown.

She attended Victory Drive Church of God.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Lowe and her husband, Carlton, of Harrison; sons: Jessy Childs and his wife, Velma, of Georgetown, Tom Childs and his wife, Brenda, of Cleveland, Carson Childs of Cleveland and Alvin Childs and his wife, Tammy, of Chatsworth, Ga.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Moore of Decatur; brother, JD Brown of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. W.C. Vaughn and the Rev. James Hughes officiating.

Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
