CHAIR-RIES JUBILEE committee members busily stuff envelopes with complimentary tickets to the April 15 arts auction for corporate sponsors and artists. From left are Kathleen Robinson, Kathy Thaggard, Chairman Nancy Casson, Cathy Boettner, Beth Gardner and Jeanne Sawyer. Tickets for the event are $20 in advance at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce and The Red Ribbon.
The show will open for one of Cleveland’s premier social/fundraising events in a couple of weeks.
“Lights, Camera, Auction!” is the theme for the 2011 Chair-ries Jubilee fundraiser set for Friday, April 15, at the Museum Center at Five Points at 6 p.m. The Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce presents the annual fundraiser to raise funds for arts in education and arts-related activities in the community.
Artists are busy taking their inspiration from movies—from westerns to cartoons, Broadway shows and TV shows. From chests, chairs, tables and wardrobes to Adirondacks, porch swings, headboards and desks, dozens of pieces will be on display for bidders to purchase.
“We’re creating a lot of interest with our traveling ambassadors from the television series Gilligan’s Island,” Nancy Casson, event chairman, said about three seaworthy pieces from the S.S. Minnow painted and donated by Judi Andrews. “We have more corporate sponsors than ever, and folks are getting excited about the auction preview that will be held earlier on the day of the auction.”
Tickets for the event are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and are available at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce and The Red Ribbon. For more information about the event, call Casson at 473-1114 or Lisa Mantooth at 472-6587.
