Helen Riden, chapter regent, led the DAR Ritual with Rinehart Lackey reciting the Chaplain’s response.
This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, the Pledge to the Tennessee Flag, the American’s Creed, the Preamble to the Constitution, the Daughters’ Pledge to the Flag and the singing of the National Anthem.
Katy Tippens introduced Dr. Neil Greenwood, professor of history at Cleveland State Community College. He spoke about the siege of Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis.
Jeannine Scott led the daughters in prayer and lunch was served.
Leigh Ann Boyd read the minutes from the December 2010 meeting.
Linda Foster presented the Treasurer’s Report.
Helen Riden commented on the January Officers’ meeting and the February Awards Tea.
Mildred Maupin gave the National Defense message in which she discussed the last World War I veteran who recently passed away. Helen Riden recognized the guests in attendance.
Mariann Dietrich gave the Native American minute about the Museum Center at Five Points which has a series of books on the Cherokees.
Riden thanked the hostesses for the month of March: Ina Kagel, Jane Lucchesi, and Laura Hixson.
The next meeting will be held at the Elks Lodge on April 1.
