She was born on March 25, 1933, in Bradley County where she attended Charleston High School. She moved to Chattanooga in 1955 and retired in 2005 from Hancock Fabric with 22 years of service.
She loved to work in the yard; she loved to sew, and also enjoyed spending time with her family. She volunteered for many years at the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga and her and her daughter, Brenda, did craft shows around the area for many years. She was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, D.D. and Ruby Cody; daughter, Brenda Gale White; and great-grandson, Hunter Jamison Hendrix.
Survivors include her son, Richard Alvin Paul of Chattanooga; sister, Hazel Duggan of Cleveland; three brothers: Estel (Marie) Cody, Hershel (Beverly) Cody, and Gilbert Cody, all of Cleveland; son-in-law, Danny White of Chattanooga; two grandchildren: Ciera Michelle Paul of Chattanooga and Darryl Christopher (Jessica) Painter of Douglasville, Ga.; two great-great grandsons: Jaden Patrick Paul and Kase Parker Engel, both of Chattanooga; very special family, Dan and Brenda Friar and their children, Leah and Sean of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral in Rossville, Ga. with Minister JC Watkins officiating.
Interment will be held Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at the Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
