48th Holly Ball celebrates style

The Cleveland-Athens Cotillion held the 48th Annual Holly Ball Dec. 29, 2010, at the Cleveland Country Club.

Robert B. Mayfield was the master of ceremonies for the evening. Six young ladies were presented at this year’s event. Debutantes of the season were:

Toye Alexandrian Clark, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald H. Hargis and Richard S. Clark. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L Gibson of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Billy A Hargis of Tracy City and Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Clark of Cleveland. She was presented by her father, Mr. Hargis, and was escorted by Clayton Junior Gann of Cleveland.

Miss Kelly Patten Feehrer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Wayne Feehrer. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Charles Louis “Buddy” Patten of Cleveland, the late Mr. Patten and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wayne Feehrer of Benton. She was presented by her father and was escorted by her cousin, Samuel Grant Feehrer.

Lauren Olivia Ledford is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Holt Ledford II. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Larry Cordell and Ms. Evelyn Cordell of Cleveland, and Mr. Donald Holt Ledford and Ms. Sue Ledford. Miss Ledford was presented by her father, Mr. Donald Holt Ledford II, and was escorted by Mr. William Christopher Jenkins of Cleveland.

Lindsay Sloane Pitman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Joseph Pitman of Chattanooga. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman H. Sawyer Jr., Mrs. Alfred Teed Pitman of Fayetteville, Ga., and the late Mr. Alfred Teed Pitman. She was presented by her father and was escorted by her brother Joseph Edward Pitman.

Katie Alan Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alan Smith. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kent Smith and Mr. and Mrs. J. Phillip Newman. She was presented by her father and was escorted by her brother James Parker Smith and Jefferson Knox Horner II.

Miss Ella Marie Sullivan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Julian Sullivan III. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F Sain of Cleveland, the late Mr. Samuel Julian Sullivan Jr. and the Rev. and Mrs. Charles E. Lippse of Chattanooga. Miss Sullivan was presented by her father, Mr. Samuel Julian Sullivan III, and was escorted by her brother, Samuel Julian Sullivan IV.

The Debutantes carried bouquets made by Rhon Logan of Rhon’s Distinctive Floral Designs of Cleveland. He also created the Holly Ball Arch and other beautiful floral decorations.

Photography was by Greg Forehand of Contemporary Portraits, of Signal Mountain. Thomas Scotton created the video. Moving and set up was by gentlemen at Posey Moving and Storage and lighting was by Gravel Road, all of Cleveland.

The debs and their guests danced the night away to the Papa Sol Band from Atlanta, and Cleveland Country Club served a breakfast buffet at 11 p.m. Mazella Bryant and her family have been running the coat check for the last 48 years.
