Jose Luis Rodriguez Torres, 35, was charged with a variety of evading and traffic violations after he reportedly led Bradley County Criminal Interdiction agents on a wet and wild chase Thursday afternoon. Torres, from Roswell, Ga., initially pulled over on Interstate 75 when stopped by an agent, then took off as the agent approached his car. The pursuit traversed southbound I-75 until Torres left it at exit 20 and proceeded toward Withrow Road. Speeds reportedly reached over 100 mph, according to information provided to Bob Gault, media coordinator for Bradley County Sheriff’s Office. Torres ran a stop sign and crashed with Steven Bennett, then attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended a short time later. No one was injured during the incident, according to Gault. Torres reportedly told officials he had no drivers license and didn’t know who the car he had crashed belonged to. He was arrested and charged with felony evading, resisting stop and arrest, reckless driving, no driver’s license and failure to maintain lane. Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Larry Fowler is in charge of the investigation.
