The Bradley County Young Republicans helped distribute 100 turkeys during a recent event at the Cleveland/Bradley County Library.
Chick-fil-A, Jake Duos-State Farm, The Medicine Shoppe and Gemelli’s Pizzeria also helped by donating food that was served during the evening for all those who attended.
Joshua Standifer, chairman of the group, said this was an important responsibility for the group to take on.
“This is the time of year so many of us should be thankful for the many blessing we have,” Standifer said. “Being thankful should also mean sharing the bounties God has blessed us with. This was such an inspiring evening for all of us who took part.”
Standifer especially wanted to thank the library staff who he credited with being “fantastic.”
In addition to the turkeys, more than 80 bags filled with stuffing, green beans and corn were also distributed.
One of those getting a Thanksgiving dinner package, Jackie Gatlin, called it “a blessing there are people in this town that cares about others.”
