Wilburn Blane Kilby
Wilburn Blane Kilby, 90, of Tellico Plains, passed away at Starr Regional Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved fishing and spending time with his family.
Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Eliza Ellis Kilby; his first wife, Hester Kilby; three sons, Blane, Steve, and Bruce Kilby; two brothers, Knoxford and Bill; and two sisters, Mamie Sue Gay, and Jimmie Hooper.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Freeman of Tellico Plains; three children, Pamela (Robert) Rookard of Etowah, Joan (Gary) Whitehead of Englewood, and Deidri (Jim) Shepherd of Arkansas; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several other extended family members.
The funeral was conducted Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Vernon Webb officiating.
Interment will be conducted today, Jan. 30, 2018, at noon at the Rural Vale Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends prior to Monday's service in the chapel.
