The Wacker Polysilicon North America plant near Charleston will be conducting tests on the facility's inside fire alarm systems today, according to an announcement by Troy Spence, Bradley County Emergency Management Agency director.

"While those alarms may not be noticeable to any outside areas, both Wacker and EMA want the community to be aware of what is happening so there will be no misunderstandings or misinterpretations as to what is taking place at the plant," Spence said.

He added, "We appreciate Wacker's cooperation in letting us know about these tests in advance, so the public can be fully informed."
