U-Turn, Lee Campus Choir join forces

The campus of Blythe-Bower school was alive and exciting Saturday when the Lee Campus Choir brought the annual Christmas Carnival to the school community.

Hundreds of children along with their parents and grandparents came to the festive occasion and they were not disappointed by what they experienced.

Unique to the event this year was the support of The U-Turn Institute to help make the day successful.  The Carnival provides games, family pictures, lunch, and groceries for those attending.  Families from Tennessee Christian Preparatory School donated coats and toys to be given to those who attended.  The Crossroads class from Westmore donated coats, as well.

According to Madry Robinson, event coordinator for the Lee Campus Choir, “This was a wonderful day for our choir and our community.  Our Lee choir members were terrific and they loved meeting, spending time with, and serving the students and parents at Blythe-Bower.”

The U-Turn Institute provided financial support as well as volunteers to assist for the day.  In addition,  the U-Turn Institute volunteers cooked enough chili, vegetable soup, and chicken noodle soup to feed the hundreds who attended the free event.

Bill Balzano, coordinator of The U-Turn Institute said, “The event could not have been better.  The students from Lee University have a real sense of service to our community so it was a pleasure to come along side the campus choir for this worthwhile endeavor.”  Balzano added, “Prisavia Croft, Blythe-Bower principal, and her team do a marvelous job of serving the school community as well as allowing others to play a role in supporting her school family.

Future events and programs are being planned by The U-Turn team to provide healing, hope and happiness for the citizens of the Bradley/Cleveland community.
