Deadline to purchase tickets for the 91st Annual Meeting of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce is Thursday, Jan. 19. The meeting will convene Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Peerless Road Church, 3301 Peerless Road.

Outgoing Chamber Chairman of the Board Shannon Ritzhaupt, owner/chef of Café Roma, will highlight the 2016 program year and recognize volunteers at the annual conclave.

“Each year the Chamber of Commerce outlines goals and determines action steps to guide its day-to-day operations, which reflect a commitment to the economic and community development of Bradley County,” Ritzhaupt said. “The annual meeting gives us an opportunity to present the outcomes of those efforts and to recognize the leadership team that ensures progress in each program area.”

He added, “2016 was an exciting year with a significant increase in membership, the introduction of a new investment structure and reaccreditation. This year’s annual meeting is a time for us to celebrate our accomplishments and to talk about our bright future.”

Incoming Chairman Roger Pickett, owner of MurMaid Mattress Inc., will introduce the Chamber’s focus for 2017.

“Membership retention and growth, along with member services, are always a part of our program of work,” Pickett says, “but ensuring continued economic and community development for Cleveland and Bradley County is also vital. We want good jobs, an educated workforce and amenities that make our community a great place to call home.

Other highlights of the evening will include presentation of the prestigious M.C. Headrick Free Enterprise Award and the Robert W. Varnell Jr. Leadership Award.

The Headrick Award commemorates the ideals of the late M.C. Headrick and recognizes a businessperson who exemplifies the best of the free enterprise system. Last year’s recipient was Stephen Wright, president of Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc.

The Varnell Award, named for the late Robert W. Varnell Jr., honors selfless leadership in professional, religious and civic endeavors. Cheryl Dunson, vice president of marketing for Santek Waste Services Inc., was the 2016 recipient.

To purchase tickets, which will be available through Jan. 19, members may call the Chamber of Commerce at 423-472-6587 or register through the Chamber’s events calendar at www.clevelandchamber.com.
